Pop Warner 2026 FOOTBALL AGES & WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Player's age cut- off date........July 14th . ( Your athlete age on July 14th is their league age )
Players will need to provide the following:
Copy of their birth certificate, medical release
* Report card for 2025/ 2026 school year with a 2.0 minimum GPA with all 4 Quarters provided.
All players must be certified by September 7th 2026

Our Mission @ the Matsu 49ers organization is to provide a fun learning environment for youth.
We believe football teaches the value of Team work, resilience, hard work, integrity, and commitment, while emphasizing the importance of academic success and overcoming adversity.
Pop Warner is a scholastic driven football program, which is one of the big differences from other leagues. You must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better to be eligible to play. There are local, state, and national awards as well as scholastic monies available for the honor students and recognition awards for 3.0 and above. We at Pop Warner believe that you must be a student athlete and maintain good grades to better your future.

Practice Attendance & Playing Time Policy
Football is a team sport, and being prepared for game day requires commitment, preparation, and consistency from every player.
Practice Attendance & Playing Time
1. One Excused Practice Absence
A player who misses one practice during the week for a legitimate/approved reason may still participate in the upcoming game, provided the coaching staff believes the player is adequately prepared and able to safely participate.
2. Two Missed Practices in One Week
A player who misses two practices in the same week will normally not participate in the upcoming game.
The Head Coach may make an exception when there is a valid and significant reason for the absences. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
3. Habitual or Repeated Absences
Players who habitually miss practices may be temporarily restricted from participating in games or other team activities until they demonstrate the dedication, attendance, and consistency necessary to safely and effectively participate.
Why This Rule Exists
Football can be a violent and physically demanding sport. As volunteer coaches, one of our most important responsibilities is to prepare our players to protect themselves and protect their teammates.
That preparation cannot happen if a player regularly misses practice.
Practice is where players learn:
- Proper tackling and blocking techniques
- How to safely execute plays
- How to protect themselves from injury
- How to protect their teammates
- Team assignments and responsibilities
- Communication and discipline
- How to respond to game situations
This policy is not intended to punish players for legitimate circumstances. We understand that family emergencies, illness, school responsibilities, and other important situations can happen.
At the same time, we have a responsibility to the entire team. One player’s lack of preparation can affect the safety and success of every player on the field.
Our goal is to teach more than football. We want our players to understand commitment, accountability, responsibility, discipline, and what it means to be part of a team.
Coach’s Discretion
The Head Coach and coaching staff reserve the right to make reasonable exceptions based on the circumstances of an absence and the player’s readiness to safely participate.
The standard is simple: Be present. Be prepared. Be committed to your teammates.
